Tell Me What Really Happened by Chelsea Sedoti

Petra, Nolan, Abigail, John and Maylee embark on a weekend camping trip.  Only four of them return.  A night that was supposed to be fun ends up with Maylee vanishing around midnight. The remaining four are now being questioned individually by the police in order to find out what happened to Maylee. Everyone is suspect and as the accounts of the night unravelled in a police interview fashion more questions arise than are answered.

This book is incredibly fast pace and the plot is well written and entertaining. The twist will blow you away and keep you glued to your seat.

Happy Place by Emily Henry

When did I start enjoying all these romance novels? I used to avoid them as much as possible and lately I have been drawn to them. Happy Place drew me in and I felt like a part of the friend group. I was rooting for everyone.

Harriet and Wyn have been broken up for 6 long painful months however they haven't told their friend group .  They were once the golden couple. The couple everyone envied and now they have to  pretend they are still together when they met up with their friends at their annual getaway.

The find themselves sharing the largest room and bed unlike in the past when they shared the room with twin beds. In order to continue the charade they have to go all in and act as though they are still together. This means a lot of affection.

Harriet narrates the story telling us about their past and present lives. This makes you instantly feel like her best friend who she shares all her secrets with. Henry's writing makes you fall in love with Wyn via Harriet and feel the love Wyn has for her. I simply love this book and I think you will too.

The Only Survivors by Megan Miranda

It's been 10 years since a tragic accident took place during a school trip. There was initially 9 survivors and now only 7 are left. Every year the survivors get together at the Shallow on the anniversary of the accident.

This year things are different at the Shallow. All the survivors are a bit off and acting particular. A major storm rolls in. One of the survivors is missing.

The story is told in past and present tense. Secrets that people hold are revealed as are the tragic events of the accident. Miranda's writing puts you at the scene of the accident. You can feel the intensity and fear that the characters are undergoing.

Twist and turns keep you turning the page late into the night.

Witness: For the Prosecution of Scott Peterson by Amber Frey

I have been obsessed with the Laci Peterson case since she went missing. I have vivid memories of her beautiful smile on flyers on windows around my city. I recall seeing the press conferences and followed the trial. I've picked up a few books here and there and have listened to countless podcasts.

Like many others I never faulted Amber Frey. She is just another victim in Scott Peterson's world.  Amber's book covers her relationship with Scott. The start to the end and everything in between. The relationship was short lived but left a lasting impact on Amber's life. The book did not provide me with information I didn't know but it was a good read. A lot of religion is crammed down your throat which pulled me away from the book. The read is fast super easy read.

This Delicious Death by Kayla Cottingham

Deliciously disappointing. There has been a lot of hype surrounding this novel. I was anxious to sink my teeth into it and  just wasn't engaging despite the interesting plot line and and twist on a zombie like virus called, The Hollowing.

The Hollowing is the result of a plague that created a craving for flesh luckily a synesthetic flesh called SynFlesh was created allowing the "ghouls" to leave normal lives. This is the most interesting aspect of the book and would have preferred have read more about start of the plague and the first few years of it. Instead we get a group of 4 friends, who all have the hallowing who go on a road trip to attend a massive concert in the desert. Things don't go as planned and it appears the virus may have mutated.

The characters have a load of diversity but they seem a bit flat despite some of their interesting background stories about their "ghoul" days. Which one have made for a much better story. There are several plot lines and the pacing is a bit off. The ending is abrupt and not exactly horror.

Blind Love : The True Story of the Texas Cadet Murders by Peter Meyer

  Dear Readers ...

I am old. I was a teen when Adrianne Jones was murdered. I have been obsessed with this case since I first heard about. I revisit it every now and then. David Graham and Diane Zamora were the "perfect" American teens. They were intelligent, successful and on their way to make their dreams come true. For Graham it meant the Airforce an Zamora the Navy.

They had so much potential and opportunity but they tossed it all aside. They
took a life and ruined theirs in the process. Zamora and Graham were a couple (of fools!) and were obsessively wrapped into one another. Their relationship was unhealthy and moving way too fast. They'd only been together a few months before they got engaged and planned out their lives together.

Graham cheated on Zamora (keep in mind that Graham has recanted this but for the purpose of this book he did). After holding on to the guilt he confessed to Zamora. Zamora went bat-shit crazy. She went mad, banged her head, screamed, cried and then demanded Jones death as a means of redemption. Shortly after this, Graham and Zamora violently murdered Jones. Her body was found. An innocent man was accused and the crime   went unsolved until Zamora confessed to her roommates.

Meyer's book is nearly impossible to find. I had to borrow it from archive.org. They book is lays out their relationship, the murder of Jones and the fallout. Meyer wrote the book before the trial took place so it is about the information he had at that time. There is no court trial information but they are found guilty.

It's an easy read and I did learn a few new things. I would like a more updated version to read.

There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins

Due to tragic events Makani has left her beloved Hawaii and her unsupportive parents. Her parents have sent her to live with her grandmother in a small town in Nebraska. Fitting in isn't easy but luckily she has a small group of good friends.

Makani and her friends are living their normal teenage life until a teen is murdered. More teens are murdered and you suddenly find yourself in a Scream type franchise. The entire town is walking on eggshells, everyone is suspect and on edge.

This is a perfect horror slash read but be warned that the movie doesn't do the book justice. Skip the movie, read the book.

Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman

Incidents Around the House is the spookiest novel I have read this year. I don't spook easily but creepy kids freak me out. Bela is only...
