This Delicious Death by Kayla Cottingham

Deliciously disappointing. There has been a lot of hype surrounding this novel. I was anxious to sink my teeth into it and  just wasn't engaging despite the interesting plot line and and twist on a zombie like virus called, The Hollowing.

The Hollowing is the result of a plague that created a craving for flesh luckily a synesthetic flesh called SynFlesh was created allowing the "ghouls" to leave normal lives. This is the most interesting aspect of the book and would have preferred have read more about start of the plague and the first few years of it. Instead we get a group of 4 friends, who all have the hallowing who go on a road trip to attend a massive concert in the desert. Things don't go as planned and it appears the virus may have mutated.

The characters have a load of diversity but they seem a bit flat despite some of their interesting background stories about their "ghoul" days. Which one have made for a much better story. There are several plot lines and the pacing is a bit off. The ending is abrupt and not exactly horror.
