Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

“It will be all right, she told herself, and she stepped out of the boat into the water.”
― Celeste Ng, Everything I Never Told You

The premise of this book is quite simple. The favorite child of a mixed raced couple has just been found dead. Was is homicide
or was it suicide? Lydia seemed perfect  but she had secrets that could break apart the foundation of her families life. She strove to be the "perfect" child and her parents, her mother in particular attempted to live out her unfilled ambitions through, Lydia.

Lydia's family is left to grieve and rather than unite they all go their separate ways to deal with her untimely death. Expect flashbacks that are oddly important to the storyline as it gives you an idea of the type of character's you are dealing with.

The character development is strong but the story itself is missing something ---  It is anti-climatic and has no true closure however this is an exquisite novel considering it its, Ng's debut.
