Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games) by Suzanne Collins

It is rare when a second book in a trilogy is as, spell bounding as this one. Collins is an impressive author. She remains true to her characters and storyline, while adding to it in ways that one can't possibly imagine. There is one major event that happens, which I was able to figure out but all the others were complete surprises, especially the ending! This second book picks up right when Hunger Games left off - It is seamless, engrossing and written which such profound meaning that one can't help but become 100% absorbed in this story.

Grade: A+

Synopsis [B&N] Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.
