I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BTVS) and Slayer takes place in the BTVS universe.
Nine and Artemis are twins who grew up in the Watcher's Academy. Their mom is a member of the Watcher's Council. The twins father was Buffy's first watcher and died protecting Buffy as a result of this Nina hates Buffy's and slayers.
Nina and her sister have essentially been training as watchers but their lives are about to change especially Nina's. Nina is the last slayer ever! This means Nina has to learn to be slayer. She has to train to be one. She tries to keep it a secret but when bodies start to pile up and her dreams start to come true she had take her slayer role seriously.
I read this book ages ago but decided to revisit it before I read the second installment. I miss BTVS.
Slayer is a character and plot driven book. I loved reading about the watcher's world, new prophecies and meeting new characters. This book will fill the BTVS void.
